　　Co-Head of China（South）

　　Jian joined JAFCO Asia in 2005 and is currently Managing Director， Co-Head of China（South） responsible for investments in Hong Kong， and Southern end Eastern China， in particular the Yangtze and Pearl River Delta regions. Jian brings with him more than 14 years of venture capital， private equity and scientific research and industrial Ramp;D experience. In 2007， he is appointed as a member of the Investment Committee of JAFCO Asia.

　　Prior to joining JAFCO Asia， Jian was a Director of AlterAsiA Limited， a Hong Kong based advisory firm providing private equity portfolio management services to international institutional investors， notably CDP Capital， Canadalsquo;s largest public pension fund. He was in charge of the monitoring and divesting of several portfolio companies in various industries in several countries in Asia.

　　Prior to that， Jian was with CDP Capital from 1997 to 2003 where he worked as Investment Manager at the Hong Kong office of CDP Asia Investments， the Asia private equity arm of CDP Capital. He worked in a number of expansion capital transactions in advanced manufacturing， industrial products， IT services and semiconductor-related equipment in Greater China and Southeast Asia. He also managed CDPlsquo;s fund of funds portfolio. Before moving to Hong Kong， Jian was a venture capital analyst at CDP`s headquarter in Montreal， Canada. He was involved in many investments in start-up companies in Canada and the US， in the areas of new materials， renewable energies， environment， agriculture， health care and innovative financial services.

　　Before starting his career in venture capital and private equity， Jian was in the field of scientific research and industrial Ramp;D for more than 6 years. He was a research fellow at Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada， McGill Research Centre between 1991 and 1994， working on applied photochemistry of pulp and paper. Prior to that， he worked in a Franco-British joint research program set up and sponsored by the European Community （now EU） in the area of applied material science. He published and authored some 20 scientific papers and reports to international symposia.

　　Born in Guangzhou， China， Jian earned his Bachelor in Polymer Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University and received his MBA degree from McGill University of Canada. In 1988， he obtained a PhD in organic material science from the University of Bordeaux in France.
